Student Mistakes When Preparing for the IELTS exam

Students often make mistakes when embarking on IELTS. Preparing for the IELTS exam requires a lot of time and hard work. It also requires a lot of focus and retaining what they learn and study. Then there is the language requirement, for which students are expected to be at least a B2 level. Learning IELTS requires a mind shift that can only fully be achieved from a B2 level or above.

Some common mistakes students make

  1. Students often focus on learning the Ielts content, but fail to focus on learning the skill. There has to be a good foundation of both, if you want to make a success of your exam.
  2. Students believe they’re ready when they’re not. Ensure that you’re at the required English level (by taking a level test) to ensure that you don’t struggle in the exam.
  3. We find that students don’t realise that there is hard work involved. They are surprised when they get lots of homework assignments but don’t realise that it is absolutely necessary.
  4. Students forget to memorise and retain the skills they learn during the course. This is why they should take the exam, as soon as possible after completing their course. We do offer our students a free review before they take the test.
